Broadband Dsl Cable

Features Of Broadband DSL Cable

If you are going to choose an Internet service provider, you may get confused as it is quite a difficult task to choose the best one. There are basically two services that are being used these days, Cable Internet and Broadband DSL Cable.

In cable service the same wire, which you have been using for your television sets is used to transfer the data over the Internet. There are some cable modems that are used to set a connection, which is connected to your computer as well as cable outlet. With this you can watch Television as well as enjoy Internet access and there is no need to dial-up again and again to enable Internet services.

Using cable services, you can download documents with a speed of around 6 Mbps, which is much faster than a dial-up connection. You can also choose some other services like digital TV, digital phone service or Internet service as your local cable company will be delivering all these services. With this, you don't need to pay extra monthly fee for some additional services.

DSL services also use normal phone lines in order to transmit data at a much higher speed. A company providing DSL services also provides services like TV, Internet or phone services. You can use DSL services for personal as well as well as for business purpose. Using DSL, you can upload documents at a speed of around 256 Kbps and can download data at a speed around 1.5 Mbps.

But this technology has a disadvantage; if you are somewhere near a DSL provider office, you will get better service but if you are further away from office, you shall not be able to enjoy the best services. Distance is a big constraint and affects the speed. But people living further away from office have to pay less fee.

DSL offers a 24-hours service. You can use a DSL connection if you want a 24-hour connection but if you want a high-speed connection, you should use cable service. The speed of an Internet connection is measured on the basis of upload or download rate. There are two ends of a DSL connection, one is at customer end and other is at Services provider end. At customer's end there is DSL transceiver and at provider's end there is DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) that helps to establish a broadband DSL cable connection.
