With high-speed Internet options, the rapidly growing technology has been changing our lives day by day. The high-speed Internet connections have penetrated our homes and offices. As compared to the dial up connections, the high-speed Internet connections are much faster and are rapidly becoming mainstream norm. This is because we hardly have any patience to wait in this age of instant gratification. There are various types of Internet options. It is very necessary to consider all the options before opting to high speed Internet bandwagon. * Local Dial up connections- Local dial up connections are very simple to install but can be costly. Some companies charge phone bill when you are using a dial-up connection. In case of the dial up connections the speed can vary from the 26 to 56 k connection speeds. * Cable connection- Cable connections require cable Modem. They are generally provided by the companies, which offer Cable TV. In this case, the range varies from the 512 k to high speed of 10 Mbps. * DSL- A DSL Modem is required to be set up on the computer system in case one wants to use a DSL connection. In the DSL modem connections the speed ranges from the lowest 512 to high speed of the 9 Mps. In case of the DSL connection, the cost could be double the amount of what is charged in case of the dial up connections. * Broadband- The broadband is referred to cable, satellite Internet connections or wireless connections and DSL. In the case of the broadband the range typically varies from 512k -1.5 Mbps. * Wireless connections- A wireless modem is required to be set up on the computer system and is only available in some limited area. Here speeds starts with 2 Mbps. The very advantage in the wireless connections is that you need not have a wire connection to be connected to Internet. * Satellite Internet Connection- In the satellite Internet connection, the upload and download speed can vary. Say for example, you can download via a satellite and can upload via a dial up connection. Among all the options available, the satellite Internet connection is the most expensive option. But one thing must be noted about this service is that it is available across the world. In this case the speed is available from 500 k and go up to very high range. Now, there must be a question lingering in the mind about which kind of high-speed Internet options to choose from. The answer lies in the fact that it really depends on what one wants. One thing is clear that if one is tired of getting a standard dial up connection and its download speed, then the broadband connection is just the requirement. |
